About

My name is Jared and I showcase cities for what they truly are. I was exposed to photography in high school but it became a serious interest of mine once I took a digital photography class in college. I was hooked. While in the class, I rented a camera through my school. The idea of having to return it pained me, but that’s when the hunt started to find a cheap camera body and lens setup that would fulfill my needs as a beginner.

After months of digging through the internet, I purchased my first camera. The need to create photographs overwhelmed me. I started to bring my camera everywhere with me and took photos of whatever seemed interesting. At the time I was living in Charleston, South Carolina. This allowed me to capture beautiful sunsets and vast scenes supported by excellent lighting conditions. I was content with the photographs I was producing but after discovering some of the master photographers who worked in the past, I yearned for more.

My interests fell into the street photography category and any type of work where time was visible. Though none of my idols were based in Charleston, I had to try it for myself. I dove headfirst into the idea of capturing the life that took place in the city of Charleston. Whether it was a college student walking down the street with a pizza box or kids fishing off of the battery, I was determined to capture it in all its glory. This went on for a couple of months. I photographed downtown Charleston, the surrounding areas, and some of the nearby beaches until I couldn’t anymore.

My family and I made the move to upstate South Carolina in the fall of 2022. I was in awe of the colors near the Blue Ridge Mountains, but something was missing. I was used to having an urban environment close by, but now it felt like I only had nature to photograph. There’s nothing wrong with photographing the beauty of nature, but my roots remain grounded in cities. For that reason, I set out on having the goal to visit all the nearby mountain towns. Even though there were almost no people to photograph in some of the towns, there was still fantastic lighting and interesting old buildings.

That’s where I’m at now. Making photos of areas and objects that amuse me. In the future, I wish to create photographs of different cities all around the world and turn them into books for people of all ages to view. But for now, I will practice my craft until that time comes.
